Window FARMING
I wish I could do this, but I can’t because I don’t have windows in my brick rectangle of a nyc apartment. HOWEVER, if someone did have the light, like my roommate, I would invest in a window farm. It’s the beautiful ingenuity of green thumbs, idealists and good fucking people that made this happen.. check it out!

sweater alteration! perfect for those cool nights at the beach.

this was a pain to do because i had to go back and sew all the places i had cut so the sweater wouldn’t unravel.

Matzah Pizza!

Ingredients:

Matzah - Israeli brand shown— roommate brought them from his parents’ house. (Thanks Dale!)

Tomato Sauce

Vegan Daiya Cheese

Herbs

It’s fairly simple and I think you get the idea.

this was a t-shirt i wasn’t wearing at all, so i wanted to do something to make it a little more fun. all i did was cut circles out of each of the sleeves, and widen the collar as well. i would have liked for the sleeves and length of the shirt to have been a bit longer, as well as the fabric of the shirt a bit softer, but i was able to turn a shirt i was not wearing into one that i will!

this was a really easy alteration to this shirt. it came with little fabric roses in a row along the collar which did not look good, although i did like the roses themselves. so i took them off the collar and attached them just on one side. much better!

this is my attempt at a desayuno tipico de guatemala, typical guatemalan breakfast, only it should have scrambled eggs and some goat cheese type thing with it too, also maybe some avocado…. anyways after going to guatemala with my dad this past july and loving the country, people, and definitely the food, i had been meaning to try to cook a guatemalan meal myself!
so i fried up some plantains (soooo delicious) in vegetable oil and re-fried beans as best i could. in guatemala they serve their beans almost like a hummus texture, very thick, and also very salty. they also serve this cream sauce thing with breakfast, but i just used some plain yogurt with some salt, pepper and chili added. its delicious with the plantains- they were a little dry so it was nice to have a sauce with them.
then piping hot corn tortillas are served on the side to wrap it all up, yum!

i made this dress in just a couple hours! which is really exciting for me because i usually take forever to do…anything. i used the basic pattern from other dresses i have made, and was just experimenting with the fabric for the top of the dress. i knew i wanted it to have volume and a fair amount of fabric, but i was not sure how i was going to do it. the first cut i made ended up working out though! it helps that i used a really soft jersey material so it folds and lays well.

i like the versatility in the top of the dress and how it is possible to have several different looks just by moving the fabric around.
